Frequently Asked Questions
During the Retreat
How do I pronounce Medomak?
muh-Dah-muc
May I leave for a few days in the middle of the Retreat?
Participants who have left the Retreat for a day or two in the middle of the Retreat have consistently mentioned they wished they hadn’t. They thought, and we think, it isn’t a great idea. It can also have an unwelcome impact on the rest of the participants in the group. We understand there may be a very good reason, and possibly no other choice, so if you’re considering leaving the Retreat for a time, please talk this over with us before making plans to take part in the Conductors Retreat.
May I leave a day or two before the end of the Retreat?
The culminating events of the Retreat are the final concert on Saturday afternoon and the concluding discussions that evening. We expect all participants to stay with us at least through the end of the final meeting, which typically ends about 10:30 PM.
There’s no work or meeting the last Sunday morning. Breakfast is served, the airport bus departs, and everyone leaves before 11:00 AM.
May I arrive late to the Retreat?
It is important to the success and effectiveness of the Retreat for everyone to arrive on time at the beginning of the Retreat. We expect all participants to assure they will be at Medomak on time to register and move into the cabins before the first session on the first day.
Travel
What is the best means of transportation to the Conductors Retreat at Medomak? Do I need a car while I’m there?
